Dear EVS organisations,
The European Solidarity Corps initiative was launched one year ago. Since December last year, young people from around Europe can register in the Corps to express their interest in taking part in solidarity activities. Currently, these young people are supported, among others, by the Erasmus+ Programme through EVS.
In March, the European Commission has delivered a new tool called the Placement Administration and Support System (PASS) giving access to EVS accredited organisations to this database. Through the tool, organisations can easily search for young people who registered in the Corps, based on the personal data and preferences they have specified in their profiles. This information includes their availability, their prior knowledge and experience, their preferences for the types of projects they want to get involved in, and the countries they are willing to go to.
From now on, organisations have the possibility to advertise their volunteering opportunities on the Solidarity Corps portal. Young people registered will be able to search the opportunities and apply through the system.
The advertising of volunteering opportunities is not a novelty for EVS accredited organisations as this functionality is available since 2014 in the volunteering database and many organisations make use of it. Organisations can now, additionally, for activities falling under the scope of the Corps (long-term and with Programme Countries) choose to display their offer in the Corps portal.
It is also important to mention that the process does not change for organisations and that the steps to create a volunteering opportunity remain the same in the volunteering database. Organisations wishing so will just have to tick the new relevant box field when creating the opportunity for the offer to be additionally advertised in the Solidarity Corps Portal.
These functionalities have been developed with the objective on one hand to get young people more involved in the selection procedure so that it's doesn't only remain a one-way process, with young people waiting to be contacted by an organisation and, on the other hand to provide and ease the contact/application/selection process.
You will find all the necessary information in the updated User Guide, at the EYP page: https://europa.eu/youth/eu/article/46/19564_en.
